The Kafe

the kafe hanoi

The KAfe is one of the first to set the afternoon high tea trend among Hanoi coffee shops. The original afternoon set is a pot of tea for two, served with chocolate chips cookies and matcha sables. It’s changed a lot ever since – now you can order your choice of tea and your favorite desserts separately. Most of the desserts can only be found at the KAfe, as they created their own taste and recipes for every item. You can also create your own crepes or waffles here, or try something new from the KAfe bakeshop – the menu is updated every season, so there’s almost always something you haven’t tried yet.

The KAfe has just released a new Afternoon Set, with which you can order one bakeshop item and one drink from their preset list at 75,000vnd+/pax. The set is not included in the menu, so the staff will give you a separate set menu to choose from. Cloud Cake is currently the most popular item on the list, and can easily be paired with almost any drink. Another point for The Kafe for using organic & fair trade tea, supporting farmers in Vietnam.

Time & Address: Afternoon Set is served from 2PM to 6PM everyday. The KAfe: 18 Dien Bien Phu, 17 Phan Boi Chau, 52 Nguyen Chi Thanh, 11 Dao Tan, 107 Lang Ha. The KAfe Village: Villa no.4 Ha Hoi.

Price:  VND 75,000+/set

Grade 4.8/5 – Best value choice!

Work Cafe focuses on bringing the best customer experience. They put so many efforts on designing the space, interior, food & drinks presentation and choosing catering services. You could easily feel their clean, minimalism, and contemporary style through the way they arrange the furniture, use tea pots, wooden boards to serve food & drink. However, I have a feeling that they have recently changed the catering in Hanoi, so the cakes taste slightly different since the last time I tried.

Time & Address: 9:30am – 10:00pm – Located on the 4th floor inside Vincom Ba Trieu.

Price:  199k+/ set

Grade: 4.0/5 – The most beautiful interior & food presentation!

Saint Honore

The famous French bakery & restaurant chain – Saint Honore is also an ideal destination for your endless fascination with sweets. As they present all pastries, bread and cakes on the 1st floor, you will feel like you are in a European bakery in France or Italia. You can find macarons, tiramisu or opera in their menu. Especially, don’t forget to try the green tea tiramisu, to taste the sweet & creamy mascarpone combined with Japanese matcha flavour.

Time & Address: 5 Xuân Diệu Tây Hồ Hà Nội/ 31 Thái Phiên Hà Nội

Price:  100k++

Grade 4.2/5 – The most various cakes & pastries!

Mint cupcake creations

mint cupcake creation hanoi

Cupcake presentation looks quite like Georgetown Cupcake that I have had chance to take a look at in Boston & New York

Mint Cupcake Creations is a well-known cupcake chain in Hanoi with a wide range of cupcake flavors. However, what I love the most about Mint is their two little tearooms, which are really lovable and suitable for a small gathering for tea or some “alone time” in the city. The atmosphere here is quite airy and quiet with modern, minimalistic yet cozy decorations,

At Mint, you can choose from a variety of 10 daily signature cupcake flavors to enjoy with tea. As they are known for their cupcake, the cupcakes here are very flavorful and high quality, that I love the most about Mint.

Teas at Mint are also loved since they offer  a selection of 10 England-imported tea flavors and they are all blended teas (which are tea in mix of dried flower, fruits and leaves). Therefore, the teas we can have at Mint are quite exquisite and special.

Time & Address: 9:00am – 10:30am – 221 Giảng Võ / 4b Nguyễn Thái Học /51 Ngõ Huế / 12-B4 Phạm Ngọc Thạch / 4 Hạ Hồi

Price: 150,000d +++/2 persons ( for a teapot for two and 2 cupcakes)

Grade 4.0/5 – The best cupcake!

The Lissom Parlour

the lissom parlour

We couldn’t forget The Lissom Parlour when mentioning about afternoon tea places in Hanoi. Although it has just been opened for about half of a year, The Lissom Parlour is a bucket list item in the check-list of every sweet-tooth people. I’ve tried most of the items in their menu, and here are several favorites: Passion fruit roll, cheesecake, and Mini Forest Cake. Personally, I feel that Black Forest here are made with traditional ingredients, so I could taste the rum, the black cherry ( sour cherries), and feel the moist of sponge layers.

A  tea set is presented in a beautiful tray including candles (to retain heat), and served with roasted nuts accompanied with honey. Their teas are imported from England, and must be carefully preserved to keep it fragrant. Some of my fav teas: Vanilla Rooibos Tea, Fruity Camomille, or Jasmine Gold

Ice-cream at Parlour Lissom is also worth a try (about 30-39k per scoop). I also enjoyed the table-setting here, so on point for Instagrammer! Perhaps because the owner is also a famous food blogger, she knows how to present her food and play with props.

Time & Address: 7:30 am – 10:30pm. 68A Nguyễn Hữu Huân Hà Nội

Price: Cakes: VND 60k – 150k/ Teapot for 2 pp: VND 130-150k

Grade: 4.6/5 – The best cakes!

There was another lovely tea room called Rue Des chats but it was closed last year. Hopefully, it will be re-opened soon so we have more choices when being in need of tea & cakes :p
